Woman Who Flung A Puppy Out OF Car Window Goes To Jail
A 35-year-old woman, Alsu Ivanchenko, lives in New York. Last year, her three-month-old puppy, Snowflake – a pound heavy Maltese/Shih Tzu – was observed to have got a broken leg at one animal clinic where she was brought for treatment. Prosecutors said Ivanchenko deliberately refused to treat the puppy, put her inside a black disposable bag and flung her out of a car window like trash.
Snowflake’s case grew critically worse after being flung out of a car window last year. Ivanchenko’s merciless act created an impact that led to the damage done to the little dog’s brain and the crack on her skull. Surprisingly during the court session, Ivanchenko showed no sympathy and did not make any attempt to apologize for the wrong she did, let alone say sorry.
Before sentencing her in court for the bastardly act, the judge asked Ivanchenko if she wanted to say anything. The only thing she did was shook her head with reluctance. According to reports from Saten Island Advance, Alsu Ivanchenko abandoned her puppy in a shopping bag which she placed near the railroad tracks so she could die. Alsu did not even apologize for the wicked crime she committed just last year.
According to Ivanchenko, it was the high cost of treatment that made her unable to treat the puppy dog when she was diagnosed with a broken leg. She explained to police officers that she was left with no other option than to dispose of Snowflake in a shopping bag by the roadside.
It was however later uncovered by the police authorities that Ivanchenko planned to later buy a new puppy to replace Snowflake. It was some good Samaritans that found Snowflake dying with bloodied and crusted eyes, 2 skull fractures and brain trauma in addition to the broken leg she had initially.
Because the little pup’s injuries were severe, a neurological veterinarian wanted to recommend euthanasia initially. This was thought to be the ultimate solution if not for the unrelenting efforts of caregivers at Rehabilitation Northeast, South Shore Animal Hospital, Special Needs Animal Rescue and the ASPCA that helped Snowflake to recover remarkably. She is now doing fine in an adopted home and is happy to be alive again. She is now living in a loving home where she was adopted and is reported to be “doing great” and “very happy.” Now, Ivanchenko is currently serving her 1-year jail term and has been restricted from being a companion animal owner for 15 years. In addition, she was also ordered to pay to the ASPCA a restitution fee of $21,795 for her crime. She must also register with N.Y City’s new animal abuse registry for 5 years.
