Puppy Clinging to Life After Being Found Nearly Frozen to Death

The cold, harsh winters in Canada almost cost this puppy her life. Demi was only 5 weeks old when she was found and taken to Manitoba Underdogs Rescue who had volunteers working in the community, feeding and picking up stray animals. The five-week-old husky-shepherd mix was not in a good way when she was found.

Manitabo Underdogs Rescue Executive Director, Jessica Hansen, told Global News, ““I’ve never seen a puppy recover after being that cold. I thought she was going to pass away in our arms on the drive to Winnipeg. She was nearly dead. We snuggled her into the chest of one of our volunteers, wrapped her in heat packs, and put some corn syrup on her gums to try and increase her energy levels. She was just so tiny and helpless. It broke our hearts.”

The puppy was so cold the thermometer did not even register a temperature. Demi is now in an incubator and has begun her long road to recovery.

Manitoba Underdog Rescue posted this plea on their website:

DONATIONS are needed for Demi’s care, as her bill is already up to $800, and can be made via PayPal at www.manitobaunderdogs.org/donate or etransfer to info@manitobaunderdogs.org. Every donation over $20 receives a tax receipt.
